Some would say that the society we live in t is just existing day after day reliving the same experiences. Throughout McCandless' two-year travels, he would avoid staying in one location for more than a few months and avoided any intimate relationships. He chose this nomadic lifestyle because he felt that traveling and experiencing the world was the only true way to live. After knowing Ron Franz for only three months (January-March 1992), McCandless had such a large impact on him that Franz wanted to adopt him as his own son. This and many others show how much of an impact McCandless had on their lives despite their short relationships. McCandless traveled because he believed it was the one true way to live and because he wanted to avoid any intimate relationships. I agree with his views on how living the same day to day existence is not an authentic way to live. I feel that we should all try to experience a life where we don't repeat the same activity day after day. Traveling allows us the opportunity to live a new life every day, through meeting new people and experiencing new cultures.
